What Our Gardens—and Our Club—Mean to Us
The Mundaring Garden Club Christmas lunch in December 2025 was a heartwarming celebration of community. We had challenged our members to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) in a special competition: to write a testimonial about “What the Mundaring Garden Club Means to Me.”
We received many fantastic entries, each one a genuine and moving reflection of the friendships, knowledge, and sheer joy that our club brings to so many lives.
A Tough Job for the Judge
The stories were vibrant, personal, and incredibly heartfelt. They spanned everything from nervous newcomers finding their green thumb to seasoned veterans sharing decades of wisdom, and many spoke beautifully about the lasting friendships forged over weeding and watering.
Our impartial judge had the unenviable task of sifting through the submissions to select three winners.
“Every entry was a winner in its own right. They all perfectly captured the spirit of camaraderie and the passion for gardening that defines our club.”
The entries were judged on sincerity, creativity, and how well they articulated the club’s impact. After much deliberation, the top three were finally chosen!
Announcing Our Wonderful Winners!
We were delighted to announce the three winners at the Christmas Lunch. Each of them received a lovely basket generously donated by our wonderful local supporters at Mt Helena Home Hardware. In addition, each basket will have a $20 voucher from Hills Fresh.
And the winners are…
Joining the Mundaring Garden Club after moving to WA five years ago helped us build social connections and friendships and become an integral part of our new community. We’ve enjoyed expert talks, nursery visits, garden tours, and the warm camaraderie at morning teas. It’s a welcoming, inspiring group that has enriched our lives in so many ways. S & M Denniss. Being in the garden and at the club brings me joy—it inspires my creativity, much like arranging a beautiful bouquet of flowers. This enriching journey includes listening to guest speakers who offer fresh ideas and insights, participating in hands-on workshops, and visiting open gardens. The club gives me a place to connect, to thrive, and to truly belong. H Mitchell. Hovea
The top three were chosen because they provide the most balanced and comprehensive promotion of the club’s core offerings: social connection, diverse activities (education/learning), and the central theme of gardening.

More Than Just a Club
The competition served as a powerful reminder that the Mundaring Garden Club is more than just a schedule of meetings and plant swaps. It’s a vital support network, a classroom without walls, and a place where a shared love for the earth binds us together.
Thank you to every single member who took the time to write and share their personal stories. Your words prove that the roots of this club run deep, and we look forward to growing together for many more years to come!
